Apply for a JST Scholarship
We invite all applicants to apply for a JST scholarship. JST offers many partial-tuition scholarships, ranging between 25% - 75%. In addition to offering partial-tuition scholarships we also offer several full-tuition scholarships. The Arrupe Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship available for the M.Div program and the Kalmanovitz Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship available for any degree program. Additional details are provided below.
If you are a current applicant interested in applying for a JST scholarship in the coming academic year, you must:
- Submit your online application for admission.
- Complete the scholarship section of the application and upload all required documentation.
- Domestic applicants must also submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and provide SCU's institutional code, 001326. The FAFSA is available online at . Once you have completed the FAFSA you will be required to upload a copy of your FAFSA Confirmation Page E-Mail, which indicates your Estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) to your online application for admission.
Arrupe Scholarship (Master of Divinity Applicants Only)
Each year, JST awards a number of Arrupe Scholarships to full-time lay students accepted into the Master of Divinity (M.Div.) program. Applicants for the Arrupe Scholarship should have experience or interest in working in poverty settings and with persons from different cultures. Arrupe Scholars will be pastorally involved in such local settings (parishes, prisons, social agencies, etc.) during each year of the M.Div. program.
Arrupe Scholars are awarded full tuition for three years, which is the duration of the M.Div. program, provided the student is making satisfactory academic progress.
The deadline for this application will be February 1 for fall enrollment. Decisions will be sent by March 15.

The Kalmanovitz Charitable Foundation supports several full-tuition scholarships each year.
These scholarships are intended to support the education of lay students and women religious with strong academic credentials and significant documented financial needs. Preference will be given to students who enroll full-time in a JST degree, and who have a strong record of theological ministerial service to schools and other Church-affiliated organizations.
Kalmanovitz Scholarships are awarded for the duration of the student’s academic program, provided the student is making satisfactory academic progress.
The deadline to apply for a Kalmanovitz Scholarship is February 1 and decisions will be sent March 15.

Domestic graduate students may use federal loans to offset the cost of tuition and living expenses during their studies. Federal loan awards and disbursements are managed by Santa Clara University's Financial Aid Office.

Common M.A. Application (Graduate Theological Union)
Applicants applying to the Common MA program through the Graduate Theological Union, who affiliate with JST, are eligible for partial-tuition scholarships. In order to be considered for a scholarship please follow the . Additionally, please send a copy of the GTU application for financial aid to the JST financial aid office using the contact information at the top of this page.
Financial Aid Policies
Only students who have applied and been admitted to the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University are eligible for scholarship and federal loans. To be considered for scholarship, complete both the Program Application and the Scholarship Application.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need and excellent academic achievement and/or academic potential. Preference is given to students enrolled in JST’s degree programs. Graduate Theological Union Common M.A. students who are affiliated with JST-SCU and students in certificate or sabbatical programs are also encouraged to apply for scholarship.
