Immigration Process

We're so happy you picked SCU! Once you've confirmed that you plan to attend we can begin the immigration processes necessary for you to join our university. If you will be coming to SCU as an F-1 international student, you will need an I-20.

The Global Engagement Office issues official immigration  to international students who do not hold U.S. passports or Lawful Permanent Residence, and who wish to reside in the U.S. in F-1 student immigration status.

I-20 Request Deadline

Your completed I-20 Request and all supporting documents must be submitted by the I-20 Request Deadline.

Requesting Your I-20

In order to create your I-20 we need your I-20 Request Packet which includes:

If you are an F-1 international student at another high school, college or university and you want to transfer your F-1 SEVIS immigration record to SCU, you need to complete the Transfer In Request一道本不卡免费高清 and provide it to your current school.

一道本不卡免费高清If you have dependent family members (spouse or children) you want to join you in the U.S., your completed I-20 Request Packet should include copies of their passport biographical and U.S. visa page(s), as well as proof of funding for dependent expenses.

Where to submit your I-20 Request Packet

一道本不卡免费高清Newly admitted graduate students (Masters, PhD and JD programs) should submit completed I-20 Request Packets to their graduate program's admissions office.

Newly admitted undergraduate students (in Bachelor's degree programs) should submit their completed I-20 Request Packet directly to the Global Engagement Office via email (iss@explore-biography.com).

Current SCU student requesting I-20s for Change of Status, extension of academic program, change in education level or reinstatement should submit their completed I-20 Request Packet directly to the Global Engagement Office during drop-in advising hours or via email (iss@explore-biography.com).

I-20 Processing Time

一道本不卡免费高清Once we’ve received your completed I-20 Request Packet, our standard processing time is 15 business days.

  • If we have everything that we need, we will create your I-20 and notify you.
  • If we have questions or need any documents, we will contact you via email.
  • Please do not send any follow-up emails or requests to expedite your I-20 issuance -- we're working as fast as possible!

Once Your I-20 Is Created

一道本不卡免费高清You will receive an automated email that includes your SEVIS ID number and SCU's school code. This will allow you to pay your SEVIS fee and schedule your visa appointment. 

If you requested that your I-20 be mailed to you, you will be prompted to visit explore-biography.com/issmailing一道本不卡免费高清 to create your shipping label and initiate the shipping process.

If you requested to pick-up your I-20 from our office一道本不卡免费高清, you will get a second email once the I-20 has been signed and put at our front desk for pick-up.
