SCU welcomes over 1,600 international students and scholars to our campus community from Austria to Zambia.
International students choose SCU for a term or year or for their full degree. Students tell us they appreciate SCU’s academic quality and opportunities to explore the liberal arts and sciences – even while they pursue a degree in an area like Business or Engineering. They tell us that the Jesuit, Catholic tradition that focuses on social justice leads them to a campus that is student-centered and globally connected. And they tell us that they are excited by the opportunities not only on campus but in the dynamic Silicon Valley community around them.
International Student Success
SCU's international students are supported by the academic departments to which they are admitted. In addition, our International Students & Scholars department provides an International Student Welcome as part of orientation for new students, immigration documents and advising related to academic adjustment and employment for international students. On campus resources such as the HUB Writing Center, the University Library, the Career Center, and the Cowell Health Center provide international students support adjusting to US academic culture as well as internship opportunities.

" I was honestly very surprised but it’s a great honor. I just didn’t expect to be a Distinguished participant, because just transitioning into college in the Fall, I wasn’t sure that academically I could keep up with integrating into school, society – a new country, but I’m really glad that I was able to get everything going and get the award."
"I think it’s a whole different learning experience, learning at a higher level. It makes college more worthwhile, really taking what you can from college, rather than just cruising through it."
US immigration regulations are complex and change frequently. The University strives to maintain a website that is both current and helpful, however, Santa Clara University is not responsible for students maintaining lawful immigration status; this is the responsibility of the student. Further, resources and links do not constitute endorsement by Santa Clara University.
