The IRS form 1098-T is filed by Santa Clara University for each student who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and has qualified payments towards qualified tuition and related expenses billed during the calendar year (January 1 through December 31).
Your personal financial records serve as official supporting documentation for your federal income tax return.
There is no IRS requirement that you must claim the education credit. Claiming education tax benefits is a voluntary decision for those who qualify.
The deadline for remitting required documentation to Santa Clara University to obtain the 2019 1098-T form is March 1, 2020.
What is a Form 1098-T?

How is Box 1 being determined?
Box 1 reports payments received from all sources for qualified tuition and related expenses (QTRE) for the calendar year. Qualified expenses do not include charges for housing, meal plans, health insurance, transportation, and personal expenses.
When can I expect to receive my 1098-T form?
Provided you are eligible to receive a form 1098-T, the forms will be available by January 31st. You will receive an email notification from the Bursar's Office notifying you the 1098-T form is available for viewing/downloading.
